Meet Adriaan.

Adriaan Gouws founded GDS, a small web design studio in South Africa. Adriaan works with a small team to design and build every site.

How GDS came to be.

A short story in four parts, told plainly.

Before 2019

Self-taught, by doing.

Adriaan learned web design by building real sites for real people, and by reading documentation and books and trying things until they worked. The craft came from practice, not from a classroom.

2019

Something of Adriaan’s own.

GDS began in 2019 out of a wish to build something of Adriaan’s own: a studio where the work, the standards and the way clients are treated could be set from the very start.

2023

A pause.

GDS closed in 2023 for personal reasons.

2026

Back, and better focused.

The reason for coming back is simple. Building things that matter, and having those skills be genuinely valuable to people, was what Adriaan missed most.

The relaunched studio has three focused services, published prices and a small team behind every project. There are no client logos to show yet, so the Work page is honest about that.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.

Plain English

No jargon. If a quote or a term doesn’t make sense, Adriaan will explain it again until it does.

Hands-on, start to finish

GDS is a small team, so every project gets real attention from the people building it.

Learned on real projects

The skills behind GDS were earned by building things for real people and fixing what didn’t work.

The facts.

Short and checkable.
